Your next job is already on your customer list

Guide4 min read

Ads bring in strangers. Your customer list is people who already know you, already trust you and already paid you once. For a shop, a restaurant or a studio, bringing one of them back costs far less than finding someone new.

Why the list matters more than the next ad

A past customer does not need to be convinced you are real. They have been to your place. When you have a slow week, a new service or a seasonal special, they are the first people to tell, and reaching them costs you almost nothing.

Without a way to reach them, every slow week means paying for strangers again.

Timing is most of it

The best time to invite someone back is when they are about to need you again. A ceramic coating needs a maintenance wash. Tint fades and film gets chipped. A massage client feels it again in four weeks. A regular at a restaurant has a usual night.

Write down when each of your services comes due again, and reach out a little before that.

  • Coatings and protection: a check and a maintenance wash a few months in
  • Repair and service: the next oil change or inspection by mileage or months
  • Wellness: the next visit a few weeks after the last one
  • Restaurants: a weekday special to the people who order on weekends

What to send

Keep it short and personal. Use their name, mention what they had done, and give them one easy next step: a link to book or a number to reply to.

One message at the right time beats a newsletter nobody asked for.

Keep the list together

None of this works if your customers are spread across your cell, a notebook, an agency account and a delivery app. Every inquiry, booking and order should land in one place with a name, a phone, an email and what they bought.

How MinerOp handles this

How MinerOp handles this

Every lead from your website, every booking and every order on your own site lands on one customer record, with what they had done.

Set a follow-up on a service, like 90 days after a ceramic coating, and each customer gets an invite to book again when it is due. Switch it on once; it never messages customers from before you turned it on. For everything else, send email and text campaigns to your list directly.

  • Web leads, bookings and online orders on one customer record
  • Come-back invites timed to each service
  • Email and text campaigns to your customer list

Questions owners ask

Is it legal to email and text my past customers?

Generally you need their permission, especially for texts. Ask for it on your forms and at checkout, keep track of who said yes, and always give people an easy way to opt out.

How often should I reach out?

When a service is coming due, and for something genuinely useful like a seasonal special. If every message gives them a reason to book, they will not mind hearing from you.

What should my customer list include?

At minimum a name, phone, email and what they bought from you. For a shop, add the vehicle. The more you know about what they had done, the better your follow-up.
